YEARS IN SPORT

The last putt dropped and it was over. I was 21 years old and my collegiate golf career had come to an end. Life as I knew it, was changing. Little did I know, for the next 20 years it would continue to change, whether I wanted it to or not.

For any former athlete, the end of a competitive career can be a crushing one and also very confusing. Grieving a huge part of my identity, I entered into life without clear direction or purpose. I tried searching for comfort in different avenues, careers, and interests but it wasn’t until I opened up about struggles with other former athletes that I realized, this wasn’t a problem unique to me - it was a VERY common experience.

Now, entering my fourth decade, my passion is not only found in coaching golf but also bringing that former athlete back into the ring. Helping them rediscover what it feels like to practice again, to commit again, to compete again. Inspiring HER to take the wheel back and DriveHER!

Hello friend! I’m Kristi, AKA Coach Roach.

  • Great question! I hope that in your first tournament you can experience joy/fun but I do know that you will also experience nerves and doubts. Understand that you’ve made the leap to compete and you can handle anything that day throws at you! Some will be good and some will be bad, and that is golf!

Remember, your first golf tournament is primarily an opportunity to gain experience, have fun, and enjoy the competitive aspect of the game. Embrace the learning process and use it as a chance to improve your skills and meet fellow golfers.
